"Well I think it is a great club for people who have a passion for math and want to challenge themselves because these competitions are extremely difficult and you get to explore math to like a whole other. Years In CCML

Kelly only recently been in the Chicago Citywide Math League competition starting in the 2006-07 competition in Division C and for the 2007-08 competition, Kelly moved to Division B. And for the upcoming year, Kelly will be competing in the top division.

Overview

The Math Team is composed of students of all grade levels who like the challenge of competing against other student from around the city. Monthly competitions are held at UIC (University of Illinois at Chicago) sponsored by CCML (Chicago Citywide Math League). These contests test various subjects (algebra, geometry, algebra 2, and precalculus), levels (accelerated and in progress), and divisions (A,B,C). -Mr. Darnall

This Year's Team

Kelly did well this year, winning 1st place overall as a team in division B. Individuals excelled, with Wo Hong Wu becoming Kelly's first city champion in Geometry. Also doing well were Ya Chen and Chao Lei, who finished 3rd and 5th in algebra and Yao Chen, Bei Nian Wu and Xiao Guan, who finished 5th, 8th, and 9th in geometry. Yue Chang Mei also finished in 9th place in algebra 2. -Mr. Darnall

Future

Kelly is looking forward to more success next year. We aremoving into the city's top division and also plan on competing in regional and state contests sponsored by ICTM (Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics). -Mr. Darnall
