How to Get There

Transportation is not offered by Kelly High School and students must find a way to get there. A method of getting there from Chinatown, Bridge Port, and Brighton Park would be to take the route 8 bus- Halst to Broadway. The station that best place to board is at the Orange Line Halst Station on Archer and Halst. Another method is to ask your parents for a ride or carpool with a group of friends who are also in the CCML competition.

Criterias

There is not much criteria to be in the competition, but for those who are taking any Honors or any high level math class this competition is perfect to show of the math skills. Those who feel the basic math Kelly is offering seems a bit weak and dry, then the competition is for you. Basically, those who feel math is their subject, CCML is the best way to take math to the next level. See example problems in Gallery if you feel like joining the Math Club and Competition.

To Begin

The CCML Competition is divided into 3 different Division: A, B, and C. Division A the top schools (Northside, Young, Payton, Lincoln Park, Jones, and Lane Tech). Division B contains the less known, mediocre schools such as Curie, Lakeview, Mather, and Taft totaling to 10 schools. Division C is the weakest of the 3 Divisions having schools that do not accelerated as well such as Hubbard, DeVry, Kenwood, Uplift, and Hancock. - Division (School Division can change as school exceed the expected Division average)

The competition is then divided into 5 different competition dates with 4 regular and 1 final at a school.

Competition, Point System, and Results

There are a grand total of 4 different categories to begin with: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and finally Pre-Calculus. There are two different types of tests for each category, either "in progress" or "accelerated". "In Progress" does not mean you are not smart enough, but it just means that you are taking the class at the time being and the material might be suitable for the condition of your learning. "Accelerated" a bit harder then "in progress" as the test base everything after you have learned the course material and could apply the knowledge. -the categories

The competition is set up in a form of a test and time is limited to an hour. Each test has a total of 20 questions and each question is equal to one point. The student with the most points will be the winner of the competition. -the test

The test is graded within 15 minutes of completion from a proctor and the winner is announced with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners from each of the 4 categories and in each of the categories there will one for in progress and accelerated. -the grading

For each of the Contest there will be a ribbon given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner of each Division for both in progress and accelerated. For example, in Algebra there will be a first place for in progress and a first place one for accelerated. The ribbons are only for the 4 regular contests. For the final contest, held in a school, the schools will receive a plaque for being the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place of their Division. Along with the Plaque, the 1st place school will receive a 1st place trophy.

For ranking of the schools, the CCML officials total all of the regular contest points and the final contest points from all of the categories to get a total. From this total, the schools are placed in order from the highest point earn to the least.
